A school parent portal is where teachers record grades and attendance, each parent sees only their own child's, and the school posts notices in one place parents check.

“We're an elementary school. Teachers record grades and attendance, each parent should see only their own child's, and the office needs somewhere to post notices.”

In plain English
EachEntry gives every parent and teacher a sign-in of their own. Each parent sees only their own entries. It covers grades, attendance and notices. Grades & attendance, forms, trips and clubs, homework, school calendar and staff live in EachEntry's own database, so there's no spreadsheet to keep in sync.
What it does
Grades sat in a teacher's gradebook and absences in the office attendance log, and neither reached home until report card time. In EachEntry a teacher adds a row for each spelling test, piece of work or absence, with the date, result and a short note. The end-of-quarter scramble to reconcile two attendance records goes away.
Parents heard about a missed test or a run of late mornings at parent-teacher conferences, when it was too late to help. In EachEntry each parent signs in to their own child's rows (the fractions assessment, the late arrival on Tuesday) and nobody else's. Fewer "how is she doing?" calls reach the office.
School notices went home as paper in backpacks, and a good share came back in October still folded. In EachEntry the office posts notices on a page parents see when they sign in: swim gear, parent-teacher conferences, school dates. Nobody reprints the same letter three times because it never made it out of the classroom.
Every person signs in to their own view. This is what each role in the demo gets.
Sees only their own entries.
Sees every entry in the portal.
The tables and fields EachEntry sets up for this portal. Describe your own version and change any of them in the editor.
Each one reads and writes the same records, so a form, its approval and the status page someone checks are one system. How EachEntry builds a portal
Search, filters, sorting, inline add and edit. The spreadsheet, minus the sharing accident.
Check-in details, benefits, updates: a page for a role to read.
Each person sees their own records, the ones assigned to them, or the ones they manage. Fields can be hidden per role. EachEntry sets this up from your description, and you can adjust it in the editor.
A sign-in link by email, by default. Password sign-in if you'd rather.
Your domain, your colors, your logo. Members see you.
